Classifier Depiction: More Than Just Handshapes

Welcomes Damon Johnson

This workshop is designed to expand your insight on how Classifiers are utilized not only based on handshapes and spatial agreements, but also utilize depictive descriptions through mouth morphemes and facial/body expressions. Participants will discuss and practice handshapes, spatial agreements, mouth morphemes, and expressions in depth.

Presentation will be in ASL. Voice interpreters will be provided.

About Damon:

Damon Johnson, M.A., is an ASL Teachers and Mentor. He currently teaches at Chanhassen High School. His past teaching experiences includes; Saint Paul College, Anoka Ramsey Community College, North Hennepin Community College, Anoka-Hennepin District #11, and Lakeville South High School. Damon has served as a board member with the MN Loon ASL Teacher Association and is an active ASL Mentor for the past 17 years, mentoring families of Deaf children and interpreters of all levels. Damon has a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Arts from Gallaudet University and two Masters Degrees in Education from Capella University and Sign Language Education from Gallaudet University. He resides in the northern suburbs of Twin Cities with his wife and four children. He enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors.
