What is ICRID?

  • A state affiliate chapter of the national organization, Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf
  • An Organization that promotes the field of American Sign Language interpreting and serves professional interpreters, consumers, and persons interested in interpreting within the Deaf community
  • A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization 

Mission Statement

To advocate for best practices in interpreting by fostering relationships with the Deaf community and interpreting practitioners; to provide support, the development of equality, professionalism, and excellence within the profession of sign language interpreting throughout Indiana.

Philosophy Statement

Our philosophy is to strive for excellence in the delivery of interpretation/transliteration services among people who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing using a signed language and those people who use a spoken language to ensure effective communication.

As the professional state association for interpreters, transliterators, and students interested in the profession. ICRID serves as an essential resource for its members in their pursuit of excellence.
