ICRID Presents: Cynthia Sanders!

Where: Vincennes University ASL Program at ISD
      1200 E. 42nd St., Indianapolis, IN 46205

Price: $30 per workshop or $50 for both (Cost includes the workshop and book written by Cynthia Sanders & Matthew Moore)

Cynthia Sanders brings us two topics with one goal: dynamic equivalence of signs that are typically misconstrued by non native ASL users. Throughout the workshop, meaning and the application of these specific signs will be developed appropriately through discourse functions: Register, Affect/Tone, Setting/ Context/ and Direct and Indirect References. After applying and practicing these discourse functions, better understanding of the contextualized meaning will emerge.

9AM-12PM: "This Ain't Flippin' the Bird the Deaf Way!"

Breaking down the linguistic components of the twenty nine variations of the ubiquitous "bird" sign and its English equivalence. .3 CEUs

1PM-4PM:  "Offbeat Signs: Unwrapped!"

Demonstrating 26 lesser-known signs and its equivalent meaning. .3 CEUs

Each workshop will be offered for .3 CEU’s at the little/none content knowledge for Professional Studies. ICRID is the approved CMP sponsor for this event. Target Audience are interpreters who want to learn more about specific vocabulary and its equivalence.

The refund policy is no refunds 14 days before the workshop.

Reasonable accommodations should be received no later than July 20, 2016.
