For interpreters, conflict resolution is a two-step process. First, they must know how to identify a conflict. Then they must resolve the conflict and maintain their boundaries in a professional, helpful way. In this interactive workshop, we use ethical principles to resolve common role boundary conflicts faced by healthcare interpeters. Participants engage in small group and class discussions guided by the trainer. This language-neutral workshop is appropriate for all foreign langauges and all skill levels. Legal interpreters are also welcome to attend.

Learning objectives:

Name common scenarios that present conflicts for healthcare interpreters.

Name the principles of the Code of Ethics for healthcare interpreters.

Using the Code of Ethics, practice resolving these conflicts through scripted responses.
